Shabbat

Shabbat services are at 6:00 pm. All summer services in July and August are at 6:00 pm.

We are blessed to have many congregants participating in our musical Shabbat programming. Our adult volunteer choir, Knesseth Shalom Singers, and our youth choir, Shirat Shalom Singers, directed by Cantor Kari Siegel Eglash, will be singing monthly. The TC Shabbos Klezmorim, the Temple band, will also participate regularly.

Saturday mornings are filled with Shabbat study and song at Temple. At 10:00 am, Torah study, led by the rabbi, takes place in the library.  Study groups offer lively, spiritually uplifting conversations and new understandings of our sacred texts.

Saturday Shabbat worship is laid back and welcoming at Temple Concord.  The service is inclusive, participatory, and filled with singing.  One of our maggidim offers a story or short D’var Torah, and the service concludes with a casual Kiddush.  Periodically throughout the school year, Shabbat morning services are led by one of the religious school classes, as we celebrate their growing proficiency in Hebrew and their comfort with our prayer service.

Periodically throughout the year, we hold Tot Shabbat.  Rabbi Emanuel and Cantor Eglash lead our youngest congregants in a short, fun Shabbat service with singing, dancing, instruments, stories, and more. When Tot Shabbat is on Friday, it is followed with a Shabbat oneg—a chance to connect with other young families.  When it is on Saturday morning, it is followed by a special, yummy kiddie Kiddush.

Jethro is an important figure in the Torah.  He was a priest in another faith, yet helped his daughter Zipporah and son-in-law Moses to raise Jewish children. On Jethro Shabbat, we celebrate the members of our community who, though not Jewish, are helping us build the Jewish future.

Education Shabbat is a special night in which we celebrate learning, a lifelong journey. During this Shabbat we honor the wonderful accomplishments of our entire learning community, particularly all of our teachers and students, who are each called to the bimah. Education Shabbat is followed by a pot-luck dinner.

See our calendar for weekly service details.
